Overview
10exai Productivity Tracker is a macOS app that helps you understand your work patterns by tracking which apps you use and analyzing your productivity locally on your device. All data stays on your Mac — we never upload your activity data to external servers.
This privacy policy is available within the app and on our website.
What Data We Collect
The app collects the following information locally on your device:
- Application names (e.g., “Safari”, “Xcode”)
- Window titles (may include document names, email subjects, or other text)
- Browser domains (e.g., “github.com” — stored in plaintext, no specific URLs or page paths)
- Timestamps (when you switched apps or tasks)
- Activity duration (how long you spent in each app)
- System events (screen lock/unlock, sleep/wake)
- Idle periods (when you’re away from the computer)
All this data is stored in text files in ~/Library/Application Support/10exai/ on your Mac.
Permissions Required
Accessibility Permission
The app requires Accessibility permission to:
- Monitor which applications are active
- Read window titles for context
- Extract browser tab domains (domain only, not full URLs)
Without this permission, the app cannot function. You can revoke it anytime in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
What We Don’t Collect
- No screenshots or screen recordings
- No keystroke logging
- No passwords or credentials
- No clipboard contents
- No camera or microphone access
- No usage analytics or telemetry
Accounts
We do not offer user accounts or sign‑in. Because there are no accounts, in‑app account deletion does not apply.
How Data Is Used
Local AI Analysis
The app includes a bundled Ollama AI engine that runs entirely on your Mac:
- AI analysis happens locally — nothing is sent to cloud services
- Generates productivity insights and recommendations
- Uses the Qwen 3 8B model (~5GB, downloaded on first use)
Session Recording
When you start recording, the app:
- Tracks your app usage and creates a behavioral timeline
- Saves this timeline to a local text file
- Can analyze it with local AI to provide insights
You control when recording starts and stops. You can pause, resume, or delete recordings anytime.
Network Connections
While your behavioral data never leaves your Mac, the app makes these network connections:
App Updates
- Checks for updates via our website (hosted on GitHub Pages)
- Uses Sparkle framework for automatic updates
- GitHub may log your IP address and download timestamp
AI Model Downloads
- Downloads Qwen 3 8B model (~5GB) from Ollama’s servers on first use
- This is a one‑time download
- Ollama servers may log your IP address
No Analytics
The app does not include any analytics, crash reporting, or tracking services.
Data Storage and Retention
Where Data Lives
- Session files:
~/Library/Application Support/10exai/Sessions/ - AI models:
~/.ollama/models/(separate from app data)
How Long We Keep It
The app automatically removes older data when it launches:
behavior_timeline.txt: kept for 90 daysanalysis_output.txt: kept for 365 days- Empty session folders are removed after those deletions
All other files remain on your device until you delete them manually.
Deleting Your Data
- Use the in‑app “Delete All Data” button to remove all session files
- Manually delete session folders in Finder
- Uninstalling the app will not automatically remove data files
Third‑Party Services
We use these services to operate the app:
- GitHub Pages (hosts update feed and website)
- Ollama (provides AI model downloads)
These services operate under their own privacy policies. We don’t share your behavioral data with them — they only see standard web server logs (IP address, timestamps) when you check for updates or download models.

Ollama: Ollama Privacy Policy

California Residents (CCPA)
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect and request deletion. Note: Because all data is stored locally on your device, we don’t have access to your behavioral data on our servers.

- macOS user account protections
- FileVault encryption (if enabled)
- Physical security of your Mac
We recommend using a strong password and enabling FileVault.
